      Volume One: The Early Years was originally issued as The United States of America (Capitol #SM-1573) on May 1, 1961. The selections "The Midnight Ride Of Paul Revere" and "The Discovery Of Electricity" were omitted from the original release due to time constraints. They first appeared as bonus tracks when the album was issued on compact disc, Capitol #92061, June 1989. This CD release (Capitol #92061) also presented extended versions of "Betsy Ross and the Flag" and "Everybody Wants To Be An Art Director", which are the versions currently available in Rhino's United States of America - Volume I&II package. The original versions of these two tracks are only available on Capitol #SM-1573, the vinyl release of The United States of America (The Early Years).
